Millions of people every day connect to free public wireless networks: in cafeterias, pubs, restaurants, and more. However, how safe is it? The answer is not safe at all.

According to recent reports, your Laptop could end up with a nasty virus infection from these locations. Apparently, hacking into people’s browsers and forcing them into downloading malicious JavaScript code isn’t at all hard through public networks.

The code then stays in your cache pretty much forever, unless you know how to completely wipe it out. This can lead into you seeing fake pages without you knowing it. Now, if you did your shopping of filled other private details into webpages from a public location, you would have your information and your precious money taken away.

So the solution is clearing your cache after connecting to a public network, perhaps even completely disabling caching. Although you can be pretty sure hackers will find another way in, sooner or later. Security is dead.
